My grandparents ran a hotel and restaurant decades ago—maybe they passed on their love for hospitality to me.
In this year, I’ve hosted hundreds of people: families, groups of friends, couples, and solo travelers. Some came to Forlì for vacations and sightseeing, others to visit relatives for graduations or weddings. Some needed access to local hospitals and clinics.
Others came for university exams or public competitions. Many stopped in Romagna to visit Mirabilandia, Italia in Miniatura, the beach, the hills, Cesenatico, Ravenna, Bertinoro…
There were also families here for hockey tournaments, dance courses, and couples looking for peace and quiet.
One very young guy stayed with a classmate while attending ENAV training to become an air traffic controller. I enjoyed chatting with his mum, Federica, and reassuring her—making her feel proud of her “baby.” Knowing that he now helps keep our flights safe gives me a little sense of pride, too.
It's amazing how many different reasons bring someone to choose a fully equipped apartment over a hotel—for a day, a week, or even a month in Forlì or Romagna.
